As a first step you will need to download an application called Messenger Plus Live. (http://www.msgplus.net/download/) Right after that download beautiful skins from this link ( http://www.msgplus.net/skins/). Now follow this brief tutorial:
1. Right-click o the file containing the skin.
2. Click Open to launch the Import Skin dialog-box.
3. Click the Import button.
4. Make sure the Enable this skin after import square button is ticked.
5. Click OK and restart your Windows Live Messenger for the change to take effect.
